From time to time, WhatsApp is quite compatible with iPhones and Android smartphones running older versions of the operating system. This time, the Meta-owned messaging app will no longer support 50 smartphones before December 31, 2022. So whether you are using WhatsApp messaging for business or personal use, you should consider checking out the full list in this article to find out if you are affected.
We have seen several times in the past how WhatsApp has stopped supporting older phones that no longer have access to the latest security updates or lack the basic functionality needed to run WhatsApp. Devices and software change frequently, so we regularly check which operating systems we support and make updates,” notes a WhatsApp FAQ page.
To choose what to stop supporting, every year, like other tech companies, we look at which devices and software are the oldest and have the fewest people still using them. These devices may not have the latest security updates or may not have the functionality needed to run WhatsApp.
The devices in question are old smartphones from some years back, and there's a good chance that you have upgraded your phone. Smartphones running on anything below Android 4.1, and iOS 12, and phones below KaiOS 2.5.1 will lose WhatsApp support starting December 31, 2022.

How To Know If your Smartphone Will No Longer Be Supported By WhatsApp
WhatsApp notes that before support is completely discontinued for a particular operating system, users are notified repeatedly via their WhatsApp app ahead of time to upgrade their smartphone. However, users can still squeeze out more life out of their device if their phone manufacturer has made available to them a new OS and security update.
